Natural Hair Growth Challenge in 30 Days

I’m here with another exciting challenge. No more talking, no more wishing away, no more excuses. It’s time to embrace our natural hair and kick off a 30-Day Natural Hair Growth Challenge. Whether you’ve struggled with growing your natural hair or you find it difficult to maintain, or retain length, this challenge is for you!

What Inspired This Challenge?

In the first quarter of 2024, I challenged myself to wear only my natural hair for three months to see if it would make life harder. To my surprise, it didn’t! Infact, it made my life simpler, which led me to realize something important: the challenges we face with natural hair often stem from misinformation or lack of experience. Many of us just aren’t used to caring for and embracing our natural hair.

Through trial and error, I’ve created a simple routine that works, and now I’m sharing it with you. This challenge isn’t just about hair growth; it’s about falling in love with your natural hair and learning to care for it confidently.

What’s the Focus?

Your hair is going to grow, regardless of external factors. But for this challenge, we’ll focus on how to retain length and make growth more visible. Factors that affect hair growth include:

  • Genetics
  • Diet
  • Lifestyle choices (like stress levels)
  • Hair Care routines and products

But don’t worry—we’re not going to get too product-heavy. I’ll share what I’ll be using, but the goal is to keep it simple and make it work for your lifestyle.

Why Join This Challenge?

I’ve done several challenges on my own in the past, from a content creation challenge to a self-care challenge. This time, I want you to join me! I’ve set up an accountability group where we can share tips, encourage each other, and stay on track. We’ll help each other grow, literally and figuratively!

This challenge is for anyone who wants to:

  • Grow out their natural hair
  • Feel more confident wearing their natural hair
  • Simplify their natural hair care routine

My Routine and Products

I’ll be sharing daily tasks, routines, and resources with the group, but here’s a sneak peek into what I’ll be doing:

  • Hydration is key: I’ll be using a DIY aloe vera spray to keep my hair moisturized. I’ll also be using shea butter and grapeseed oil for sealing in moisture.
  • Protein treatment: I’m experimenting with a protein treatment to see if it helps reduce hair breakage and retain length.
  • Low manipulation styles: Cornrows, mini braids, and twists will be my go-to protective hairstyles for this challenge.

This isn’t about spending hours on your hair each day or breaking the bank on expensive products. It’s about doing what works for your hair and your lifestyle.

Wellness and Self-Care

Hair health reflects overall wellness, so I’ll also be focusing on my diet and reducing stress. I’m taking multivitamins and iron supplements, and I encourage you to check in on your own health through a blood test to see if you’re deficient in any vitamins.
